SOUTH YORKSHIRE-BASED JDF Logistics, whose owner Douglas Fearnley will retire this month, has been acquired in a management buyout.
Leading the buyout is company director Paul Milnes. He received backing from the South Yorkshire Investment Fund and Yorkshire Bank.
A spokesperson for the Barnsley firm says this deal has been on the cards for "quite sometime".
The company specialises in food and drink distribution along with white goods.
Milnes has worked with JDF for 13 years in the roles of director and general manager and Fearnley had been keen for him to take the business to the next level.
With 130 staff and 45 vehicles the company has a £10m turnover. It offers 46,500m2 of warehousing spread across three sites in Barnsley including the largest bonded warehouse in South Yorkshire.
