• Hauliers working In France who commit speeding or hours offences face having their trucks impounded unless they carry a "document de suivi" or follow-up document The document itself is net compulsory but fines will also be imposed if a driver who isn't carrying a document is caught • Speeding by more than 20%; • Exceeding the hours limit by more than 20%; • Failing to observe a rest period of at least six hours in 24.
In these cases the vehicle and its bad will be impounded until the document is produced. However, this rule doss not apply to trucks transiting France.
There Is no approved format for the document Its purpose Is to clarify the relationship between haulier and customer so a work contract will be acceptable.
