Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• TRUCK TYRE SPECIALISTS, the Weston-Super-Mare based tyre remoulder, has moved into new £11/4 million premises and been awarded BS 5750 part 2.

'ITS specialises in remoulding customers own casings, processing 19,000 tyres last year. This rate has increased by 20% in the current year. This increase in demand prompted the move into the new site that allows for further expansion.

The company uses the beadto-bead system, involving a continuous ribbon of rubber wound repeatedly around the casing until the required thickness is achieved.

Sidewalls are also given a thin covering of new rubber into which is cast the customer's name, tyre size, speed rating, and whether it has been remoulded before. The whole tyre is then cured in a mould which sets the tread pattern.

This system of remoulding, along with BS 5750, has enabled ITS to secure a contract to remould Semperit tyres on behalf of the Austrian manufacturer. The remould still carries the Sernperit name. A further such contract with another tyre manufacturer may soon be signed.

TTS is the seventh tyre remoulding company to be awarded BS 5750 and another 20 rernoulders have applications lodged with the BSI. The certificate also carries the EN 29002 and ISO 9002 numbers, which are the European and American standards identical to BS 5750. Circle turbo 79 for more information.
