• Workshop has a commanding lead among serviceoriented journal titles with 47% among franchised dealers in terms of regular readership.
This is shown by a follow-up survey by MIL Research among franchised dealers and independent garages servicing and repairing commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.
Part 1 (Workshop, February 1988), concerned "Research into the Servicing Market". For Part 2, more than 300 interviews were carried out by phone into editorial interests and readership; purchase decision making; and workshop activities. A screening question established that contacts had overall responsibilities for workshops before a full interview was conducted.
Among independent service and repair outlets Commercial Motor is on the only publication read regularly by more than one third of respondents among service oriented title only our sister publicatioi Motor Trader scored over 209 followed by Workshop witl 16%. This puts Worksho) ahead of Truck, Fleet Truck Headlight, Freight and Trans port News.
Among those who have rem at least one issue in the pas six months our score rises t 72%.
What do our readers mos enjoy reading? Out of 13 topic: surveyed, a similar proportioi of franchised dealers and ser vice and repair outlets are in terested in: Productive news; preventiv( maintenance; repairing specific trucks and commercial vehicle in general; maintenance log: and record keeping, and re manufacturing and recondition ing. Only two topics are rate as interesting by 45% or les: and these are reman and re con; and body repairs.
