• Stoke-on-Trent operator PMT has launched an mi lion investment plan in new vehicles, which has resulted • the first purchase of full-size buses since deregulation.
PMT, well-known for its large-scale conversions to mi bus operation, also builds ma of its own minibus bodies, bu has turned to Leyland for lar ger buses.
Ten Workington-built Olyn pians are being received, wit seven being finished with cad seating and full soft trim insi( Six have been fmished in a si cial silver livery for the 320 route between Hanley and Crewe. The 72-seaters are e peered to cream off traffic frt the rail services. Three of th remainder are 76-seater lowbridge versions and will worl the Newcastle to Longton route.
Additional vehicles to be ir troduced this year are two Leyland Swifts with PMT bodies (bringing the total up 10) and 15 long-wheelbase Mercedes 811Ds, also to be bodied by its own company.
Next year's orders call for 21 full-size single-deckers, ai PMT is evaluating various types before confirming the chosen vehicle.
