DOUBT has been thrown on the future of the London Regional Transport bus overhaul works at Aldenham following the rejection by the workforce of a new bonus scheme. The main LRT board was considering plans for a new £12 million purpose-built bus works on the 22.5-hectare (56-acre) site when the bonus scheme was rejected.
The workforce has since agreed to operate the scheme for a trial three months, but no progress can be made on the new factory until then.
Meanwhile, the works has fallen behind on a service contract for the autonomous LRT bus operating subsidiary London Buses.
