Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A 25-year-old Midlands tipper driver who deliberately caused damage amounting to £22,500 to vehicles and plant machinery at a gravel pit where he worked was at Northampton Crown Court last week jailed for five years.

Michael Robert Goodhall, of Horninglow Street, Burton-on-Trent, admitted two charges of criminally damaging three tipper lorries, two fuel holders and two cement mixers and to another charge of attempting to damage three tippers. He also pleaded guilty to stealing a set of vehicles keys belonging to his employer, Ameys Roadstone Corporation Ltd. of Little Billing, Northamptonshire.

It was said that Goodall committed the offences earlier this year after drinking an estimated five pints of beer. He then telephoned the police to say that he had come across the scene of damage while out for a stroll with his girl friend.

Of the vehicles damaged — apparently by being driven into other vehicles and plant equipment — two were said to be writeoffs while several others were driven into a row of trees bordering a nearby lake.

Goodall was also found guilty of a separate charge of arson involving a hotel bedroom.
