DRITAIN'S entry into the Common 1-0 Market, discussions on which are to resume in October, will also be the subject of one of the sessions of the annual conference of the Read Haulage Association at Bournemouth on October 17. Hauliers will hear Lord Giadwyn present the case for Britain's entry and Mr. Peter Walker, Conservative M.P. for Worcester, will give the opposite point of 'view. Each will answer questions from delegates.
The two guest speakers will be introduced by the national chairman, Mr. D. 0. Good, and Mr. G. K. Newman, the Association's secretary-general, will follow with a statement on the concept of the Common Market and its broad
implications for the road haulage industry. He will also report action taken, by the R.H.A. in collaboration with the International Road Transport Union and in consultation with the Ministry of Transport in anticipation of Britain's entry into the European Economic Community.
Earlier .sessions of the' Association's conference On October 16 will be devoted to the consideration of area resolutions. The complete text of the resolutions has not yet been finally agreed but they will certainly provide, scope for discussion of the campaign recently launched under the slogan " Turn That Lorry Round" and the problem of vehicle security.
