Mr. P. R. Scutt has retired as Managing director of Tecalernit, Ltd.; and Tecalernit (Engineering), Ltd., and is' appointed deputy chairman of Tecalemit Ltd., and chairman of Tecalemif .(Engineering), Ltd. Mr. Nigel J. Bennett succeeds him as the managing director of Tecalemit, Ltd., and Mr. J. E. Drinkwater as managing director of Tecalernit (Engineering), Ltd. Besides becoming chairman of the new subsidiary — Tecalemit (Developments), Ltd.--Mr. Bennett has been appointed chairman of Foamite, Ltd., British Oil Burners, Ltd., and Industrial Heaters, Ltd. Managing director of Tecalernit (Development), Ltd., will be Mr. H. E. Jackson.
Chloride Batteries, Ltd., have appointed Mr. J. A. C. McDiarmid as their area sales manager in Scotland. He succeeds Mr. A. T. Fraser who has retired after 43 years with the company.

Mr. G. J. Stanley, commercial sales manager, has been appointed general sales manager, Vokes, Ltd., Vokes Genspring, Ltd., and Vokes-Cardwell, Ltd.
Mr. M. W. Stokes has been appointed general manager of the Sterling Industries Group. Mr, Stokes joined Exactor, Ltd., a member of the Group, some 21 years ago and is director and general manager of that company. For the past 12 months he has been deputy to the group managing director.
Mr. L. C. Hawkins will be retiring from the London Transport Executive when his appointment as a full-time member expires on September 30. He is 65. Mr. H. D. Welch, at present assistant traffic manager of Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., has been appointed general manager of A. Timpson and Sons, Ltd., in succession to Mr. J. H. Gilbert who has been appointed general manager of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd, Before joining Southdown. Mr. Welch was with the Ulster Transport Authority. He will take up his new appointment on October 1.
Obituary
\/E regret to record the deaths of Mr. VV George W. Farquhar arid Mr. G. C. Good ier.
Mr. Farquhar, who was 34 years old, died while on a climbing holiday in Snowdonia. He was engineer (operations department) with the Mobil Oil Co., Ltd. Before joining Mobil, Mr. Farquhar had been with A.E.C.. Ltd., where he became superintendent of Southall repair depot.
Mr. Goodier, who was managing director of G. C. Goodier, Ltd., was a member of the National Council of the Road Haulage Association, Ltd., a former member of the National Executive Committee, and he was chairman of the North Western (Eastern) Area of the Association until his retirement from that office in May, 1962.
Mr. Goodier was also chairman of the North Western Tippers, Ltd., and played a leading part in the establishment of this co-operative movement of tipping vehicle operators.
