TF an air licence was granted to Wallace I Arnold Tours, Ltd., they proposed to seek a road service licence to carry passengers to Luton, the Air Transport Licensing Board was told last week when they applied, with Autair (Luton), Ltd., for a three-year licence to operate weekly between Luton and Perpignan (France) between April and October.
Mr. G. Steel, Wallace Arnold's traffic manager, told the Board that a growing number of the company's passengers B16 were being carried by air. This year. he continued, it was estimated that they would carry 109,000 passengers on inclusive tours. A little over two-thirds would come from Yorks and Lancs.
Mr. Steel said that during 1962 there had been a big swing to centred holidays abroad as opposed to touring h3lidays.
The application, in which the company was asking for 1,008 air seats, was opposed by four air companies. The Board's decision will be announced later.
