AN ingenious new type of hoist has been produced by Spencer Motor Engineers, Ltd., 36 Bloom Street, Manchester, l, which allows a vehicle not only to be raised in the normal manner. but also to be tilted to each side. In addition, by placing either the front or rear wheels on an elevating member, a. vehicle can be tilted longitudinally.

The advantage is stated to be that a mechanic can work at the underparts of a vehicle without having uncomfort ably to stretch his arms above his bead. The hoist is portable and can be moved without dismantling.

Overall length is 13 ft. 6 in. and overall width 10 ft. The screw-type elevating gear is driven by electric motors which may be either singleor three-phase. Track and wheelbase mountings are easily adjustable and 'vehicles up to 3 tons can be accommodated.

The price of the hoist is £370.
