DHL SUPPLY CHAIN is looking for authorisation to base 30 vehicles and the same number of trailers at a new operating centre at the British Gas facility in Prologis Park, Coventry.

In June. DHL announced it had won a five-year, irm deal with British Gas to provide transport services related to the roll-out of new smart-meters in the UK.

DHL will implement a distribution strategy to help the installation and maintenance of more than 16 million smart-meters for 12 million British gas customers.

The logistics firm will deliver meter equipment from British Gas's national warehouse to its own national distribution network of collection points.

The use of local collection points is designed to minimise the downtime of British Gas teams install ing the meters and also provide a secure means of collecting and depositing materials.
