GRAVE FEARS over the future of British PTE operations if 1 EEC drivers' hours regulations come into force in January hg been expressed by Councillor David Silverman, chairman of Public Transport Committee of the Association of Metropolii Authorities.
Drivers' productivity is likely to be reduced by 20 per cen the regulation which affects all routes of over 50 km comes li force said Councillor Silverman.
Implications go beyond middle and long distance activil and the total effect could put tens of millions of pounds a year road passenger transport bills.
Councillor Silverman added that, no doubt, the regulatioi relevant to the needs of Continental Europe and that provisions are accepted when our vehicles work abroad, AMA considers it completely unnecessary as far as its dome: services are concerned.
