EXTENSIVE services for hauliers working. into Manchester are planned by the Zenith Transport and Warehousing 'Co., the inception of Which was announced in The Commercial Motor last week.

Close to the company's headquarters at Olympia Garage, Liverpool Street, Salford, and adjacent to the Manchester docks area, a warehouse with 150;000 Cu. ft. of, storage space is being provided. This building is intended for the use of operators from distant centres who need to deposit consignments when instructions for re-distribution are being awaited.

Part of the main premises will be organized for receiving goods to be picked up by operators desiring return loads. There Will be a separate instruction office

The Olympia site covers 10,000 sq. yd. and a refuelling and repairs service is available. As previously reported, negotiations are pending for the purchase by the company of haulage facilities. Proprietors of the Zenith company are K. and S. Motors, Ltd., a unit of Lancashire Motor Traders. Ltd.

NEW MATLING TRUCKS

NEW battery-electric stacking trucks have been introduced by Matling, Ltd., 28 Caxton Street, London, S.W.1.. Lift heights of 6 ft. or 7 ft. 6 in. are offered, together with capacities of 1,000 lb. or 2,000 lb. at 1 ft. 8 in. load centres. The machines can be supplied with support legs only 1 ft. 6 in. or I ft. /q in. wide.

With 3-ft. forks, the trucks can operate in ailes only 4 ft. 6 in. wide, with intersecting aisles only 3 ft. 8 in. wide.
