A FORD TRANSIT fitted with the Connaught Hybrid-Fmild hybrid system (`Electrie vehicles test', CM 17 July) has returned a reduction in fuel consumption and CO:, of 24.7% in an independent test at Millbrook.
This reduction was achieved on the 12 City Drive Cycle; lesser savings were achieved in the
Urban (18%), Road (11.5%) and Combined (15%) cycles.
The Hybrid+ system, comprising an under-bonnet belt-driven motor/generator which feeds a bank of super-capacitors, can be retrofitted in a day at a cost of £2,750 (ex-VAT).
