Green was the word at Hannover this year, with a number of manufacturers proudly displaying alternatively powered vehicles, and visitors nodding approvingly as they caught a glimpse of the future.
And although a seismic shift to alternative power and more fuel-efficient vehicles may still seem light-years away. companies are realising more and more that the technology employed has to work in the real world and offer noticeable benefits.
So there was decidedly more focus on the practical this year, as rivals battled to prove that they had the answer, if not the actual production product. to the planet's woes. •
