Jam writing in response to the debate on training featured in your "Loaded Question" article (CM 24-30 July). It included arguments for and against drivers training on laden vehicles.

passed my LGV C&E in March 1997 and went straight into a job driving a new Scania 124-400 collecting loaded timber trailers out of Kielder Forest, which can be nerve-racking in a Mini, never mind a fully laden 38

tonne tri-axle attic.

In my opinion, passing a test with a flat empty trailer and driving a fully laden 38tonne artic are two totally different experiences, and I have often said people should be made to drive on the motorway and with a fully laden trailer for the LGV C&E test.

After all, unless I am mistaken or from a different planet than Steven Norris, who argued against laden training, this is where and how you will find yourself driving an WV 99% of the time.

Keep up the good work. Kevin Potts, Sheffield Haulage, Carlisle.
