FREIGHT ROVER'S recent British Telecom order for 2,500 Sherpa chassis cabs (CMAugust 14) has been increased to 3,000 and more major fleet business has come its way in the shape of a Post Office order for 850 Sherpa vans, worth £5.5m at showroom prices.
The Post Office has ordered 750 diesel-engined Sherpa 200 vans and 100 diesel-engined Sherpa 280 vans with high roofs. The high-roofed Sherpa variants together with similar Ford Transit and Bedford CF models (50 of each are -currently in PO colours) are being considered by the Post Office as an alternative to Leyland EAs which are no longer in production.
