Cyril Bridgen has been appointed special director—planning, Atlas Express Ltd; he leaves his present position with BRS Parcels Ltd today. Mr Bridgen joined the Road Haulage Executive from Transport Services Ltd in 1949. In April 1966 he was made research officer for BRS Parcels, subsequently rising to planning and development manager. Norman P. Burrows, 54, becomes Ribble central area supt at Preston from November 1 in succession to Joseph (Harry) Kershaw, who retires at the end of this month after 41 years' service. Mr Burrows has been Ribble's assistant eastern area supt for the past 3+ years. R. Beckham, distribution executive, R.H.M. Foods Ltd, has been elected chairman of the Freight Transport Association's Industrial Relations Committee.

Henry Pearce retires today after having spent 43 years with Electrolux Ltd. Luton; 29 of them as traffic manager. He was one of the first members of the Institute of Packaging and served on an area committee of the FTA.

David G. Styles has been appointed sales manager, Commercial Vehicle Division of R. J. Evans and Kitchen Ltd. the Birmingham Leyland Redline/Guy i distributor. Mr Styles was formerly in a group management position with York Trailer Co. Ltd. S. Haines, 45, London Transport development engineer (services and design—electrical) has been appointed mechanical engineer (development buses) with the rank of officer. Mr Haines, who joined LT in 1968, was responsible for the design of automatic fare collection equipment.
