WHEN he conducted an inquiry into W official proposals for the construction of a new road between Twyning and Ross-on-Wye, Sir Robert Tolerton, Ministry of Transport inspector, said that so far as he knew, it was the first occasion that a special road had formed the subject of an inquiry. The scheme at present consisted of little more than "lines on maps," and the date when it could be realized . depended upon a variety of circumstances.
Strong protests against the scheme were lodged by local branches of the National• Farmers' Union.
