GREATER CATTLE MOVEMENTS

BECAUSE butchers were buying smaller animals in bigger numbers, there had been a greater movement of cattle in Fife since the decontrol of meat haulage. This was staled before the Scottish Licensing Authority at Kirkcaldy last week when Messrs. James Kinnear and Son, Thornton, applied for a B licence for a lorry of

4+ tons unladen weight. .

Mr. John Kinnear, sole partner, wished to perform livestock transport and farm servants' removals within 25 miles, and a grant was made to cover these needs. British Railways objected. The applicants' request to run to Stirling, Glasgow and Lanarkshire markets was rejected.

Mr. Kinnear said that he was carrying about 150 cattle a week to Dundee for an Irish company supplying British troops in Germany.
