• Hill Hire has sold its van hire business in a move which leaves it free to concentrate on expanding the rental of heavy vehicles and trailers across the country.
The sale of Ember Rental for ..£1.44m to Northgate Motor Holdings leaves West Yorkshire-based Hill with around 2,500 trailers and lorries over 7.5 tonnes in its fleet. Northgate i# taking on Ember's rental fleet of 850 self-drive vans and cars.
The sale comes as Hill which has sites in Brad Glasgow, Manchester Castle Donnington, is exp to report profits for the yt 31 March 1996 of around I on a £20m turnover.
This weekend Hill Hi opening a site at Leig Buzzard, Beds, representit first move into the sou England.
Hill Hire plans to open ft sites in the South-East an South-West next year.
