• 37-year-old Derek Pond from Middleton, Manchester picked up a £50 reward from his employer TI Bainbridge Silencers last week after spotting a stolen truck.
Pond who works for the company as a delivery driver had the vehicle stolen from near his home. Although the police immediately launched an investigation into the theft, there was no real hope of ever recovering the truck.
However, while driving home on his motorcyle 10 days after the crime, Pond spotted a dark blue Ford Cargo parked by the roadside. It looked familiar to him and after close inspection Pond recognised it as the TI Bainbridge truck. It had been freshly resprayed but Pond knew he had struck gold.
