Robinson & Coxeter, has been elected president of the British Association of Removers.
When Payne took over the company in 1978, it employed six men. Today there are 70 on the payroll and it is the largest subsidiary of Robinsons, a national removal company.
Payne was 11 years with the Leicester City Police traffic department.
A committed BAR man, Payne was responsible for the reorganisation of its inland group council.
