Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford is to offer Eaton's Twin Splitter gearbox in its 38-tonne-plus Cargo rigid drawbar and tractive units, which were announced at last year's Birmingham and Paris motor shows.

The Twin Splitter option, which went into production at the beginning of April, is available on the Cargo 3828 and its left-hand drive variant, the 4028.

Twin Splitter Cargos are now being marketed in Fance and West Germany, where 70 Cargo 40-tonners will join Ford's own vehicle and parts distribution fleet. Sales talks are also underway in Denmark and Norway.

The Eaton TS011512 option costs 2550 and adds 35kg to the 6,160kg kerb weight of a sleeper-cabbed, 3.25mwheelbase 3828 tractive unit. Designed to accept up to 1,560Nm of torque, the Twin Splitter can easily handle the 1,245Nm developed by the charge-cooled, 208kW Cummins LT10-290 engine which powers the 3828. With a 0.78:1 top (12th) gear, standard (4.56:1) Rockwell U180E axle and standard (315X80 22.5) Michelin Pilote tyres, the 3828 has a geared top speed of 125km/h.

The Twin Splitter option is becoming very popular in Britain, where it is now offered by ERF, Foden, Leyland Daf, and Seddon Atkinson. By following suit Iveco Ford aims to boost its share of the over32.5-tonne heavy truck market which last year comprised well over 11,000 vehicles.
