EARLY-MORNING concessionary fares are to be abolished by Manchester Corporation. This move was approved last week by the North Western Traffic Commissioners when they gave a reserved decision on an application made by. the corporation last December (The Commercial Motor, December 20, 1957).
At that hearing, the corporation were granted certain increases in ordinary fares, which are now in operation, and they asked for the abolition of early morning concessions at the end of six months, The Commissioners then said they. would reserve their decision on concessions and examine the position again, this month.
It is expected that the corporation will gain an extra £20,000 a year by dropping these concessions.
