• Oswestry Waste Paper chose a 10-tonne chassis for its latest hook-lifter, to boost payload in a compact package.
OWP runs an all-Mercedes fleet of 7.5-tonners and 17-tonners; its latest addition is a 3.8m-wheelbase Atego 1017 with Multilift HL5 roll-on/roll-off gear.
The 10-tonner can take some 4.5 tonnes of waste, which is useful for high-density loads.
The standard-cab Atego will cover up to 90.000km a year, and OWP proprietor David Davies expects it to last around 10 years. He buys his Mercs from Enza Motors of Warrington and says: "Their parts supply is very good—whenever we need anything it's delivered next day."
