firm Moffett has been named Irish Exporter of the Year by the Allied Irish Bank and the Irish Exporters' Association.
The company rose to fame as inventor and manufacturer of the Moffett Mounty truckmounted forklift which niftily enables drivers to load and unload their vehicles and to deliver into yards or farm entrances too small for a truck. The Mounty was launched in 1986, selling 14 units; in 1995 sales will top 1,200 units and export sales have doubled in three years.
The award was received on Moffett's behalf by managing director Carol Moffett, whose father Cecil launched the firm in 1945. After the presentation, the Hawk understands that no one, absolutely no one, had more than one, tiny celebratory drink (pour the other one—Ed).
Big breaths...
Mew to the roster of celebrities at Truckfest this year is south Lincolnshire lorry driver Shirley Truffitt, who is looking loran unusual form of sponsorship— £2,000 to have her breasts enlarged
Shirley, 32, is no doubt deeply envious of the many male drivers she meets who have grown breasts substantially larger than her 34 inches by the simple expedient of eating three allday breakfasts a day.
She is to my knowledge the first UK truck driver to be offered an assignment by Playboy and she believes similar offers will follow if she grows in stature: "I've discovered that there's no money in modelling unless you take your top off."
Well, I don't know about that. In my day a little bit of ankle went a long way and gels swam in the sea exposing nothing more provocative than their pinkies.
OPS Sony there's no picture of blonde-bombshell Shirley (treexpansion) but it would have meant dropping the splendid photograph of the restored omnibus (right) and I think I know where your priorities lie—The Hawk..
