• The Department of Transport wants to know what operators think of the Traffic Area Offices.
A market research company will ask 600 operators if they are satisfied with the current 0licensing system administered by the eight TA0s. The interviews, which will continue throughout April, are part of the review of the functions of the TAOs commissioned by transport ministers and expected to cost the DOT up to £60,000 The review is headed by Stephen Curtis, former chief executive of the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority. It is designed to improve services while cutting costs through increased efficiency and will be presented to ministers by midJune.
