• A new London tnidibus service called "Fulham Hoppa", running between Putney Pier and Chelsea Harbour, will be launched on 1 April on a sixmonth trial. London Buslines will operate the service under contract to London Regional Transport.
Designated route C4, it will run every half-hour between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Saturday and will operate on a hail-and-ride basis when off the main roads. Three ex-Bee Line, Robin Hood-converted Mercedes 609D 20-seater rnidibuses will service the route with a fourth in reserve.
Funding of £70,000 from Hammersmith and Fulham Council will cover initial setting up costs and any operating shortfall. Fares will be a maximum of 45p in the morning peak period with revenue from cash sales paid directly to Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
Graham Attwell, the council's assistant director of transportation, says he is "quietly confident" that the operating subsidy required will be quite small. He hopes that companies like Sainsburys at Sanda End, where the C4 and C3 services meet, might come forward with some sponsorship.
