Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• With the introduction of roll-on/roll-off hook-type equipment that is able to lift up converted rope-type of dinosaurtype refuse containers, it is possible for containers to be convered with the addition of a front bale bar without the inclusion of underbody locking pockets.

"This may be safe with some hook units, but dangerous with others," says Container Handling Equipment Manufacturers technical standards committee chairman Thomas 1' Boughton. "It is recommended by CHEM that all containers have underbody locking pockets.

"If your containers do not have under-body locking pockets, check that the Combi-type clamps are of a positive nature, and that your equipment is fitted with a centre beam lock. This lock will stop the equipment breaking its back when tipping."

• CHEM standard TS8 has recently been modifid to include an outside dimension on the rail width. Container manufacturers please note says CHEM – equipment or containers not manufactured to these dimensions will not work satisfactorily with hook-type roll-on/roll-off equipment.
