SEVEN trunk road schemes worth £27.3m have been authorised by the Scottish Office.

They are for the 1.6km Synton-Mossend section of the A7 in the Borders; the 2.8km third stage of the M74 between Draffan and Millbank; the 2.3km first stage of the Kinsadel-Mallaig section of the A830, the Contin River Bridge on the A835; the 5.5km Alness diversion of the A9; the 8.75km A94 Forfar by-pass; and the 1.6km A929 Kingsway-Powrie improvement in Dundee.

The schemes will take between 18 months and two years to complete.
