Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CONCERN has been expressed by Clayton Dewandre over the reliability of spurious replacement brake units which are often purchased unknowingly as genuine parts.

Clayton Dewandre supplies original equipment to all major British vehicle manufacturers as well as Volvo, Scania, Daf, Chrysler and Caterpillar.

The company also offers remanufactured compressors, footbrake valves and spring brakes to OE standards which carry an identical warranty.

Spares and/or reconditioned material is available which does not match these standards. In many instances they are used to produce sub-standard imita lions which are sold as cheaper alternatives.

Very few spurious reconditioners identify with their reworked product, but many refit or fail to remove the original Clayton Dewandre labels.

Only by the use of genuine materials, assembled and tested under controlled conditions, can the end user be sure of a consistent and adequate performance, the company says.

Genuine exchange units are distinguished by a specially formulated polychromatic red colour and carry a silver label.
