GLOSTER Saro, the Hawker Siddeley Group specialist vehicle builder, has supplied £7m worth of export orders to South America, Africa and the Middle East since acquiring Chubb Fire Security's fire tender and rapid intervention vehicle business in November last year.

Following the merger (CM, August 4, 1984), Gloster Saro has now become one of the largest European manufacturers of aircraft refuellers and fire crash trucks for both civil and military authorities, All Chubb's vehicle design and production facilities have been transferred to Gloster Saro's Hucclecote plant where Chubb models are built alongside Gloster Saro products. Forty per cent of all production is expected to be sold in the UK.

Gloster Saro will continue to manufacture its conventional road tanker semi-trailers.
