am intrigued by the award of the Castrol gold medal of the Institute of the Motor Industry to the British Road Federation for "outstanding advocacy" of roads and road transport. What does a corporate body do with a medal? Does it repose in the secretary's safe? Or does the chairman wear it on his watch .chain? If so, it is just as well that the award was not a copper kettle.
