Three chassis dynamometers marketed in the UK by Leslie Hartridge Ltd are claimed to provide simulation of road test conditions.
Known as the E series, the dynamometers designed by the Clayton Manufacturing Company of California are claimed to give highly accurate and consistent measurements of speed and load. Loads can be set, held and repeated to ±0.2 hp and speed readings are accurate to less than 1 per cent. The dynamometers are equipped with a direct-drive, variable — inertia simulating system.
