• Peterborough's £3m northern primary road — third stage of an outer-ring-road system to relieve town-centre jams — has been given the go ahead by the Minister for Transport Industries, Mr John Peyton.
He announced this week that the DoE will make grants to Huntingdon and Peterborough County Council towards the :ost of the road.
The 21-mile highway — to be built to .irban motorway standards — will be in two 'iections: from the Norman Cross /Grimsby k15 trunk road north of the town, to the Birmingham/Great Yarmouth A47 road to :he east.
The first section of the ring road was wened last October. Stage two is due for :ompletion next year. And the primary road ;hould be ready for traffic by about 1975.
