Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I N a paper by Mr. S. F. Barber, Product Controller (Diesel), of GAY., Ltd., at the company's northern areas agents' conference at Harrogate last week details were given of two conversion kits which the company, have developed to help operators meet the new excess fuel device regulations. The regulations become effective, so far as vehicles already in service are concerned, on July 1. The kits are additional to the device for injection pumps with pneumatic governors introduced by CA.V. towards the end of last, year.

One of them comprises an electrical relay for vehicles fitted with Thermostart

equipment. It prevents the unit being•brought into operation when the engine is running. The. other is suitable for all types of in-line pumps and takes the form

of an adjustable rack stop fitted on the outside of the easing and operated to give excess fuel by a remotely located push button. The button is intended to be placed so that it cannot be reached from the cab and is spring-loaded so that the normal position for the rack stop is obtained when the button is released by the driver, Other speakers at the conference included Mr. J. A. Cook, Product Controller (Electrical), who described the application of semi-conductor devices to vehicle electrical equipment, and Mr. R. V. Reyner, the manager of the sales engineering department, Whose paper "Control of Smoke Emission from Diesel Engines" was closely linked with that given to the delegates present at the Conference.
