WHEN a Cockermouth contractor, Mr. VI' H. W. Irving, applied for a variation of a contract A licence the case was adjourned by Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, the Northern Licensing Authority, in Carlisle on Tuesday so that further inquiries could be made.
Mr. Irving wanted to change the contract from Adam Lythgo Bros., Ltd., to Adam Lythgo, Ltd. Mr. Arthur Scragg, transport manager of Adam Lythgo, Ltd., explained that this was the parent company for • six others, including Lythgo Bros. Mr. Hanlon wanted further details of the relationships of the companies. But Mr. Scragg, who is also a director of the Anglo Scottish Spreading Co., said he was not really in a position to answer such questions. He thought the companies were not entirely different. Mr. Hanlon then said it would be as well for the court to have a list of shareholders.
