Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN MY OPINION [EU minister] Siim Kallas is an idiot! And so are those who support his views. The lifting of cabotage rules is further proof that the EU is using the UK road haulage industry as a sacriicial goat to ensure the continental haulier achieves continuity of work in and out of the UK. Why will our government not allow some form of concession on fuel to operate competitively against foreign competition? The statement from the Freight Transport Association in response to the lifting of cabotage rules really does make sense: level the playing ield on UK fuel duty with that of other EU countries and bring the continental operator into line on road worthiness, and then maybe think about cabotage. Furthermore the Road Haulage Association has around 7,000 members. It should bring them to bear, and for once in its life, STAND AND FIGHT! Mike Presniell MD, Presniell Tipper Contractors
