Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

year I wrote to your colunm giving my views on the standard of Class 1 drivers applying for work, and their unsuitability, due to little fault of their own, rather the driving schools who, through their own greed, will enrol anyone willing to part with £650 regardless of their suitability for this type of work which, contrary to popular belief, is a highly skilled trade.

When my letter was published replies were received in support of my comments plus the natural attack from an indignant driving school proprietor and a coach operator, whose comments confused, rather than contributed.

It would appear that 50% of those surveyed agree with my views, which makes me feel less lonely, if not any happier with the deteriorating situation.

Come on Department of Transport, before it's too late! J M Sugden,

Managing director, Transport Services, Hinckley, Leicestershire.
