IN AN attempt to attract more of the once-flourishing grain trade back to the east coast port of Grimsby, a private transport operator, John Sutcliffe and Son of Grimsby, has installed its own high capacity elevator at Royal Dock.
Powered by both diesel and electricity, with a maximum elevation of 8.2m (27ft) and an outreach of 14.9m (49ft), the new equipment has the capacity to handle 90 tons of grain an hour, as well as being suitable for transferring other granulated-type products such as potatoes and coal to or from ships of up to 4,000 tons.
