Dennis Brothers Ltd., of Guildford, has appointed director and general manager Brian G. Stacey as managing director. From 1959 to 1963 Mr. Stacey was responsible for the design and development of Dennis products. Following the acquisition by Dennis in 1964 of the Mercury Group of companies he was appointed to the Board.
The Pointer Group has appointed its first industrial relations officer—Jack Hollis, 61, who last year retired from the Transport and General Workers Union after 30 years' service. For the past 17 years he was divisional officer for Norfolk and Suffolk.
AFTER 41 years' service with Temple Press Ltd, during which he worked on the editorial, advertisement and managerial sides of the company, Eric N. Adlington retires today. He joined the editorial staff in 1926 and transferred to the advertising side in 1933 on COMMERCIAL MOTOR, After war service he rejoined Temple Press as advertisement manager. In 1948 he was appointed a director. He was a founder director of Industrial and Trade Fairs Ltd.
R. M. Picking, 24, has been appointed assistant secretary of the Yorkshire division of the Traders Road Transport Association with effect from July 3. , A. E. Taylor has joined the board of Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., replacing J. W. Fraser who has resigned.
Reginald W. Berkeley, director and general manager of Belfast Steamship Co. Ltd., has been elected chairman of the Belfast Harbour Commissioners, in succession to the late J. F. Stevenson. Mr. Berkeley has been a harbour commissioner since 1947.
H. C. Johnson has been appointed a vicechairman of British Railways. Mr. Johnson has been chairman of the London Midland Railway Board and general manager of the London Midland Region since 1962. As one of Sir Stanley Raymond's two deputies. he will help in preparing for organizational changes which may follow impending legislation. F. J. N. Walker, former director of Continental Ferry Trailers Ltd., has been appointed executive in charge of all transport operations of Evan Cook Ltd.
Kenneth Gwilliam has been appointed the first Professor of Transport Economics at Leeds University. Aged 29, Mr. Gwilliam will be the youngest professor at Leeds.
The following new appointments and promotions are announced by Taskers of Andover (1932) Ltd.: D. E. Fisher, chief designer; L. A. Piper, manager special vehicle engineering; C. Goddard, chief research engineer.
Carl D. Hall has been appointed managing director of Regent Oil Co. Ltd. Mr. Hall, who has been assistant to the vice-president, domestic sales, of Texaco (Regent's parent company) since January of this year, will make his headquarters in London. He succeer1/4 A. Denis Bulman, managing director of Regent since 1965, who is being transferred to New York to become assistant to the vice-president in charge of Texaco's marine department.
Malcolm Margetts who recently completed the organization of Scammell trailer division has now been appointed manager of a combined Scammell and Thornycroft service and parts division. Alan Thorbum succeeds him as manager, Scammell trailer sales.
R. F. Bennett, general manager, Manchester City Transport, has been appointed a member of the advisory group assisting Baroness Sharp of Hornsey in an MoT-initiated inquiry into future manpower needs of urban transport planning. NALGO nominee is J. Lancaster, its organizing officer for transport staff.
B. J. Hill has been appointed general superintendent of transportation for Continental Oil (UK) Ltd. Mr. Hill was formerly operations manager of BP Supergas (Nigeria) Ltd.
