Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

APORTABLE weighing machine that can be used to record wheel loads up to 8 tons was demonstrated this week. It is claimed to be accurate within plus or minus 1 Cwt.

Developed and produced by S. G. Brown Ltd. for marketing by Hands Trailers Ltd., the machine is light (weighs less than 60 lb.), costs £.110 and is known as the Checkweight Both companies are members of the Hawker Siddeley group, and the hydrostatic load cell of the Checkweight was originally developed for aircraft applications.

A single Checkweight may be employed to weigh the load on each wheel separately or simultaneous readings may be obtained of the loads on both wheels of an axle by the use of two machines. Two hinged ramps enable the wheel to be driven over the platform and the load can be recorded without stopping the vehicle.

A registering pointer records the maximum load, which can be noted before the pointer is reset for the following operation. If required the machines may be embedded in the ground as fixed installations, in which case remote wall-mounted indicators can be employed, affording greater accuracy than the standard indicator incorporated in the unit.
