VI. is understood that Kirkstall Forge,
Ltd., Leeds, manufacturer of heavy axle assemblies, is to be equal partner with Messrs. Repco, Melbourne, in the early formation of a 'limited liability company to be named Kirkstall-Repco, in Australia. With an authorized capital of £A1,000,000, the company is being formed to establish in Melbourne a drop-forging plant and machine shop for the production of axles and dropforgings.
Stating that the scheme would be a means for saving dollars, Mr. R. P. Rodney, chairman and managing director of Kirkstall Forge, Ltd., said that the new company would be producing parts such as those which the United Sates supplied to Australia.
The Australian Minister for National Development said that it would mean greater supplies of axles and forgings for the production of motor vehicles and tractors in Australia, which country would be better able to meet the needs of the fighting services in the event of war.
