Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I N a reserved judgment on June 23, the House of I.ords held that the patent granted to the Cleveland• Graphite Bronze Co., U.S.A., for the production of thin-wall bearing liners was valid and had been infringed, and the appeal of the Glacier Metal Co., Ltd., from a decision of the Court of Appeal was dismissed. The sole European licensee of this patent was Vandervell Bearings, Ltd_ Western Avenue, London, W.3.

It seems that the American patent expired over two years ago, the infringement occuring only up to the date of this expiry. Even if the patent be later extended, the Glacier concern has , adopted new methods of Manufacture which, it claims, would not infringe the extended patent, continuity of supply being thereby ensured.
