MR. L. C. HawKiNs, Comptroller, London Passenger Transport Board, has been elected a member of the Institute of Transport, as has MR, R. LE FEVRE, general manager and engineer of the transport department of Bury Corporation.
MR. W. E. BROWN, a director of Duple Bodies and Motors, Ltd., is seriously ill, and his fellow directors wish to thank the many friends who have 'made inquiries concerning his health. We trust that he will make a speedy recovery.
MR. FRED WILKINSON, who has been appointed by the M.O.W.T, as assessor under the Road Haulage and Hire (Charges) Order, 1912, is the chairman of the Tipping and Building Trades Section of the Liverpool ,Cart and Motor Owners' Association.
MR. G. SnAw SCOTT, secretary of the Institute of Metals for 36 years, is to retire to-day, when he will be succeeded by Mr K. Headlam-Morley, who, whilst carrying on this work, will.continue to act as secretary of the Iron and Steel Institute. Mr. Shaw Scott has, in fact, been with the Institute of Metals ever since it was started, and, chatting with him the other day, we were interested to learn that he had much to do with the preparation of the memorandum and articles of association of that body. We wish him happiness and good health in his retirement, which wish will be shared by his many friends.
MR. H. C. DRAYTON, M.INST.T., chairman of Transport Service,s, Ltd., is a man of diverse interests and great activity. Mr. Barrington recently referred to him as being a haulier, busman, railway-man, seaman, docker and bargeeāin fact, transport with a capital T. He is also a director of the British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., and of the Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd, MR. H. RIGGALL, a director of Ruston and Hornsby, Ltd., who has been appointed assistant managing director of the company, first joined the associated company, Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies, Ltd., in 1920; in the following year he joined the Ruston and Hornsby concern. -He is vice-president of the British Engineers' Association, a member of the Grand Council of the F.B.I., and a member of the Executive Council of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce. MR. WALTER HAYNES, a director and secretary of the company, is retiring from executive secretarial duties, having filled the position of secretary for the past 40 years and completed 52 years' service. He will continue to occupy his seat on the Board. MR. GEOFFREY PAWLYN, chief accountant, has been made t director of the company and appointed secretary in succession to Mr. Haynes.
