Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Shell Oils has launched a fuel economy package of diesel fuel, lubricant and grease which, it claims, together can knock up to 5% off hauliers' fuel bills.

Extensive operator research has shown that although diesel fuel accounts for 25-35% of the cost of running a commercial vehicle fleet, most hauliers remain sceptical about many of the fuel economy claims made in the market place.

The claimed benefits of Shell's new package, bringing together lubricants and fuel for the first time, are highlighted by extensive testing carried out at its research laboratory in Hamburg.

Shell UK transport market manager Ashley Proctor says: "We understand how important fuel savings are to our customers. The results of the Hamburg tests show that this fuel and lubricants combination can bring savings up to £817 a year for a 38-tonne vehicle travelling an annual 120,000km."
