Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland Daf has improved availability of Allison automatic transmissions on its 45, 50 and 60 Series chassis and significantly reduced the price. Although the Allison boxes have been available before as special order options, delays in the ordering system meant that supply could be erratic. Now the automatic boxes are fully engineered as off-line options, all parts will be ordered when the vehicle order is received and delivery times for automatics should be shorter than before.

The four-speed AT 545 gearbox is now available for most 45 Series models, but engineering approval is still needed on some applications. Priced at £5,150 (ex-VAT), this represents a saving of around 17% on the January 1991 option price. Similar savings are available on the higher capacity Allison MT 643 four-speed box. Priced at ,6,650 (ex-VAT), it is available in all 50 Series models and the standard 60.180, including refuse collector derivatives.
