Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Simba Security Systems claims to be the largest vehicle security fitting company in Britain, since joining forces with Silcox and Smith.

Its Series Eight automatic alarm is set whenever the driver leaves the vehicle and covers all the doors, the bonnet and the ignition. Ultrasonic monitor heads can also be fitted; these detect any movement inside the cab, such as a window being broken. Running off the vehicle electrical system, it can be used only with integrally fitted batteries.

To enter the cab the driver deactivates the alarm with a Kaba Keyswitch and then has 20 seconds to switch on the ignition.

Yale deadlocks are fitted to the doors and the tailgate and a wire mesh grill over the rear window gives further protection. The system uses the courtesy light switches to alarm the doors, and magnetic switches on the rear doors; the alarm is sensitive enough to be activated merely by thumping a window, With three different locking systems — the Yale locks, the Kaba Keyswitch and the original door locks — drivers will be kept busy in the multi-drop work. The alarm costs 2200, with the Yale locks priced at a further £33 each.

A similar system runs off its own gel battery which is charged from the vehicle electrical system and is claimed to hold its charge for six months.

A demountable box body can be alarmed separately from the cab, so either the cab or box can be opened while the other remains alarmed. A seven-pin connector integrates the two systems and a buzzer sounds in the cab if the rear doors are opened while on the move.

A Series 10 diesel immobiliser can be fitted to an engine, and is operated independently of the alarm system by a key switch. The cab tilt is not alarmed.

The alarm system costs around £400 depending on specification, with fuel immobilisation costing an extra £175.
